Scott's Cycle and Sports has a long history helping and putting on riding events for our customers.  Starting back in the mid 1990's with the Hermiston Tuesday and Thursday night road rides and the annual Scott's to Scott's ride now going on it's 14 year.  For 2016 we are adding events and continuing sponsorship with some of the premier ride events in the Columbia Basin. Here is a list the things we are doing this year.

Scott's to Scott's April 24th : The 14th annual Scott's to Scott's will happen again continuing on the same course as the last few previous years and is still a free customer appreciation ride featuring free lunch and stocked feed zones along the way.  We will be beefing up the course marking and even adding a video course preview via BKOOL training software and Garmin GPS Video along with a better sag wagon and on course support.  

Inland Empire Century May 7th:  One of the longest running century rides out there since 1981 the Inland Empire Century is always a good ride and challenge to cyclists from around our area and across the State. Scott's Cycle and Sports for 2016 will again be sponsoring this event.  This year we also plan to be helping out at one of the feed zones.  So get ready we are planning for our feed-zone/ rest stop area to be fun and have some surprises




May Bike Challenge:  Put on by Bike Tri-Cities (formerly Three Rivers Bicycle Coalition).  This local cycling advocacy group just recently changed their name, to be easier to remember and say.  Their bike challenge will encourage people to ride bikes in the month of May.  The May Bike Challenge will conclude with a bicycle festival called Rock the Bike currently planned to be in Horse Heaven Hills Park in Kennewick on June 11th.  The festival will include prizes and recognition for participants in the May Bike Challenge and also feature family oriented bike activities, Bike Demos from local bike shops, seminars and work shops on cycling tips, safety and skills.  Topping of with and featuring a Grand Fondo style ride organized and put on by the guys at Dirty Dozen cycling events. The Grand Fondo or Gravel Grinder style event will entail three different length options from approximately 20 to 50 miles using a mix of pavement and dirt roads in the Horse Heaven Hills.

Rock The Bike: June 11th  Rock the Bike cycling festival put on by Dirty Dozen event promotion  is going to be a huge stand alone event.  It is still in collaboration with the above May Bike Challenge which will including a bike fair with a variety vendors, a Grand Fondo/Gravel Grinder style event, drawings and prizes throughout the day along with many cycling related clinics and activities.

Power of Pasco Sprint Triathlon Julty 30th: This is a really cool Triathlon put on by the Three Rivers Running Club and part of a larger series of events across Tri-Cities.  A great way to be competitive and get into rewarding sport of Triathlon.  Scott's Cycle and Sports is again sponsoring this event for 2016.  For more information check www.3rrr.org




Ultra Mega Mountain Bike Ride Series:  Every other Sunday starting August. This is a new mountain bike ride series for 2016  put on by Scott's Cycle and Sports and led by Brian Cimmiyotti Ultra Mega Mountain Bike Ride Series will feature three group mountain bike rides in the Blue Mountains.  Utilizing the tremendous trail system in the Umatilla National Forest.   The ride series will use trails like the South Fork Walla Walla, Bear Creak, Umatilla Rim, Burnt Cabin and more while doing progressively difficult and impressive loops cultivating in an Epic 70 mile point to point ride from the far end of Umatilla Rim to Eagle Ridge to Sinks to South Rough Fork and finishing on South Fork doing a ride that will descend 4000' from start to finish but will also have some of the hardest, technically challenging and most rewarding riding in Eastern Oregon and Washington.  This ride will be an all day ride plan on 6-8 hours of hard riding thus why Scott's Cycle calls this the Ultra Mega of the Ultra Mega ride series.  


Tri-Cities CF Cycle for life August 13th: This is a good ride for a good cause.  The CF Cycle for Life raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation .  We don't know what to say about this ride other than just do it, why not get out get excessive have fun and do it for a good cause fighting a disease.  Our own sales and bike pro Mike Klien does battle with CF but you would never know this as he is tough as nails, enjoys a good espresso, is a kind and gently soul that loves cycling.   Being part of this ride is a no brainer to us at Scott's we encourage you to participate.

Dirty Dozen Cycling Classic: first Saturday of September: Last years Dirty Dozen Cycling Classic organized by local cyclists Justin Fowers and Steve Rhoten was a huge success with nearly One Hundred local cyclists taking on the challenges of course featuring twelve tough climbs in the Tri-cities. This year will be even better with Justin and Steve dialing the details making the Dirty Dozen Cycling Classic a flawless,fun and excellent thing to do with your bicycle for 2016. Superfuntime MTB Party: First weekend in October:  2016 will be third annual edition for Superfuntime MTB Party again it is a weekend of mountain biking and a family camping experience featuring organized rides and events along with a dinner BBQ and Pancake breakfast provided by Scott's Cycle and Sports.

Scott's Cycle and Sports supports and participates with nearly every cycling club and group ride in the Tri-Cities, Eastern Oregon and the Columbia Basin.  We are always up for riding and so when it comes to organizing, participating, sponsoring, donating raffle prizes or all of the above we have enjoyed being part of what is happening.  Here is a bonus list of rides and things to be a part of  that we also support.  Every week multiple things are happening basically all year round so we dare you not to find something that you might find fun and challenging for you in 2016.

Chinook Cycling Club Road Training Series: Starting in March and going every other weekend for 4-6 events. This series is organized by one of the premier cycling clubs in the Columbia Basin.  The point of the series is to develop road racing skills and encourage cyclists to try competitive road racing while progressing local riders into racing regional and national events.  Joining the Chinook Cycling Club and participating in their events gets you the Chinook Discount at Scott's Cycle and Sports.  Scott's also supports the series events with raffle prizes and gift certificates that our a collaboration between the Chinook Cycling club and Scott's Cycle and Sports. Scott's Cycle and Sports Hermiston Winter Trainer Rides: Tuesdays and Thurdays at 6:00pm at Scott's Cycle and Sports Hermiston.  Our Hermiston shop has been organizing indoor training rides for over fifteen years and you can show up every Tuesday and Thursday so sweat it out with Scott Cimmiyotti and Crew.  Also in last 2 years Steve Cimmiyotti has added a virtual training ride that you can ride at home live with the friends of Scott's via the BKOOL training app.  Just log in to BKOOL at 6:00pm and join the Scott's Cycle and Sports shop ride on live section of the tool bar and go live at  6:10pm


Winter Cycle Right Power Program put on by Highgear Coaching and Scott's Triathlon:  November 17-Feburary 23rd at Highgear Coaching 10121  Clearwater Ave Ste 115  Kennewick. This Program happening  two times a week is led high by exercise physiologist Aaron Stites increases speed power strength and recovery rate so if you want an edge on the competition or just a scientific approach to getting in shape these training sessions are for you.

 


Saturday Morning Bicycle Basics: Every Saturday Morning May-August at Scott's Cycle and Sports Kennewick starting at 11:00am.  This is a free course on tire and flat repair along with basic bicycle repair and maintenance.  Saturday Morning Bicycle Basics is a great way for new riders to necessary skills to go out and ride with confidence.


Chinook Cycling Club Tuesday Night Time Trial Series: April thru September Tuesdays at 6:00pm on vairing courses.  The Tuesday Night Time Trail Series is a long running TT series with  5 mile, 10 mile, Hill Climb and 40K distances rotating every week.  Track your times and score for series title while riding for speed.  Check www.chinookcyclingclub.com for more information.

David and Brian's Saturday Morning rides:  Meet at 8:00am at Scott's Kennewick Saturday Morning. This is a shop ride that has morphed from just being David Visathep and Brian Cimmiyotti getting together for a little ride before they opened the shop to the entire weekend crew and their friends.  And now it's official Saturday morning rides are here to stay we are inviting anyone that wants to join us for a fun road ride covering 15-25 miles at a casual pace.  Don't be afraid to join in the vibe of the ride is go with the flow.




Chinook Cycling Club Fall Mountain Bike training Series:  Starting in September and going every other weekend for 4-6 events.  The Fall Mountain Bike series has a long history in Tri-Cities with our hot summers and mild winters along with sandy soil conditions the best time to ride a mountain bike is fall-winter-and early spring.  Starting in the early 1990's before the rise of cyclo-cross.  The Fall Mountain Bike Series has been an iconoclastic statement that Tri-Cities cyclists love to rides mountain bikes in this time year. In the Columbia Basin the desert trails come alive starting every fall. The Chinook Cycling Club has proved this in a pragmatic way and it has proved successful.
